| AUTHOR'S NOTE All stories are a mixture of fiction and truth. In this story, however, the boundaries are not in the usual places; many things that seem realistic are fictional, and many things that seem strange or even hard to believe are quite true. The story's landscape consists of a panoramic view of many of the deeper aspects of Chinese culture that are both ancient and very much part of the modern world. Ive strived to lead readers on a wondrous journey through the modern applications of ancient knowledge, lingering on some details and leaving others as hints for the attentive reader. Although the view is panoramic, if you focus on the details, you will see that they open up deeper perspectives. A famous Chinese novel says, "When the unreal is taken to be real, the real becomes unreal. Where the false is taken to be true, the true becomes false. When you come to parts of the book that truly resonate with you, the question of what is real or unreal will no longer matter. If you find ideas or theories that you have never before considered, then your perception of the universe within and around you will be forever changed. My intention was to make the book more than just an enjoyable story; I hope that the knowledge presented here will be provocative, inspirational, and practical as well.
